A Way To Fit
00:37
|
|||
Look at you, the way you live your life these days.
You just want to find a way to fit no matter where the place.
You know that if you needed to you couldn't stand on your own.
That's why you clone the values of not just us but everyone.
Everything we give to you is real.
But what we get back is never truly how you feel.
You feed us every lie that you can think of.
Next time you need a true friend just keep your mouth shut.
Look at you these days, just another lost cause.
You'll never be yourself because you're scared.

Despondency
01:32
|
|||
Running to find a shelter. I find a way to cut lengthwise.
Trapped in my room. I'm stuck in my head for tonight.
Living with this greed, I take and take from the ones that give.
I reach for help, reach for a friend, and that's when my screams at night are heard.
And he says 'My dear friend, I'm with you now. Don't you worry.
We're going to get through this together.
Take my hand, we'll brave this storm. Conquer our sadness -
It's just a wall between two gardens.'

Gold Rush

I know you got money to get us out of the city.
I'm still grateful for all that you've done.
But what's in your wallet is not worth more than your kids.
With a mind like that, can't you see that you're alone?
This resentment is spreading inside.
I can't help it, it's just how I feel.
It doesn't mean living just because you're alive.
But now is the time to help you see what's real.
Try smiling every once and a while. It's good for your soul.
You never did what you loved and now it's hard to love anything at all.
Try smiling every once and a while. You'd be surprised what it brings.
I know money shines, maybe just as much as gold, but it doesn't mean everything.
And I know you have better things to do
than take advice from a punk like me.
But now that I took the time to write down these words
maybe finally you'll see what I mean.
Don't fight. Be polite. Pick your battles. Treat your wife.
Love life, not your money. Every minute is precious time.
The gold is not worth the rush.
The gold is not worth the rush.
Try smiling every once and a while. It's good for your soul.
You never did what you loved and now it's hard to love anything at all.
Try smiling every once and a while. You'd be surprised what it brings.
I know money shines, maybe just as much as gold, but it doesn't mean everything.
Money doesn't mean everything.
The gold is not worth the rush.

I see these arguments all over and it's getting us nowhere.
Fighting to death about things we can't even know.
We weren't born to comprehend these mysteries in our head.
So why fight? We'll all learn soon because everything ends.
Trust me, I've checked all the figures and I've thought it all over -
all that I know is that we know nothing at all.
Although we have reason, it's all just based on opinion.
So let's try to be civil. Remember - we're in this together.
You may stand tall and walk fearless with that head on your shoulders
but that's no reason to only look down.
An open mind will take you far, for those who don't know.
But I see you're far too engaged in all these bridges you burn.
I know these words won't change much, if even at all.
But I still ask that you keep these ideas in mind:
Here's a daunting thought, but you might be wrong.
So why fight? We'll all learn soon because everything ends.
Everything ends. Everything ends.

Modern Times
01:12
|
|||
Staying true to ourselves,
we sell out everyone else.
Everyone's telling lies -
Stuck in these modern times.
Forever the present - over and over.
Reach for friends and come up with nothing.
We try to be there but we never show up.
And that's the future - forever and ever.
We all point the finger because it makes us feel better,
but what we don't realize is that we're just kidding ourselves.
We're the first in line to sell our friends out.
All we need is one good reason because we have plenty self-doubt.
